NZXT N7 Z690 : Alder Lake motherboard on DDR4 to keep costs down

 NZXT, a well-known manufacturer of heat-dissipation systems and cases, has been expanding its component lineup, particularly motherboards, for several years.

The company manufactures mid- to high-end motherboards for Intel and AMD platforms.

The new motherboard pairs the Intel Alder Lake-S platform with the Z690 chipset, as the abbreviation suggests.

The new NXZT motherboard supports CPU and memory overclocking by incorporating all of the Intel Z690 chipset's additional features.

It offers ample I / O capacity and features a fairly sober and linear design.

One of the NZXT N7 Z690's unique features is that it supports DDR4 memory. It enables us to lower the overall cost of our build.

This motherboard is based on a solution developed by ASRock, a company that has demonstrated for years that it can produce high-quality products.

The NZXT N7 Z690 uses a white color for the dissipation system, as was predicted at the outset.We find a black PCB which makes the board quite pleasant.

This motherboard has a 12 + 1 phase VRM, as well as an 8pin + 4pin CPU connector, and appears to have all of the necessary cards to provide us with some overclocking satisfaction.

The system also has three M.2 connectors for PCI-E 4.0 SSDs and supports 128GB of DDR4 4800/5000 (OC) RAM in Dual-Channel mode.

The PCI-E 5.0 interface is present but reserved only for the first PCI-E x16 slot. 

The remaining two use PCI-E 4.0 and PCI-E 3.0 interfaces, respectively, whereas the two PCI-E x1 are both PCI-E 4.0; the data sheet also mentions Dual-GPU (only AMD CrossFire-X).

Finally, the ports and connectivity department are well-sized; the latter includes WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, while the I/O panel includes two SMA wireless antenna connectors, HDMI 2.1 port, two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports, Clear CMOS key, BIOS Flashback key, 2.5G LAN, 7.1 channel audio jack, and one optical S / PDIF output.

The proprietary NZXT CAM software, which allows you to manage and monitor all system parameters as well as RGB effects.

The Intel Core i7-12700K processor was used in our test on the NZXT N7 Z690, along with DDR4 3600 memories; this platform will be tested in various areas and compared to the same processor with DDR5 6000 RAM. Here's a breakdown of the setup:

I can can safely say that the solution proposed by NZXT is well structured, rather complete (for a Z690 DDR4).

HyperX Pulsefire Haste Gaming Mouse

 A year ago, HyperX launched the "punctured" Pulsefire Haste mouse. It was the manufacturer's first mouse of this type, which was apparently well-received on the market, as we have just received its wireless variant.

Phishing scammers target Paypal customers

 E-mails indicating a pressing need for action should be carefully examined and acted upon, because they are often phishing. Scammers are increasingly targeting Paypal users.

Is my PayPal account being used to pay for gambling? But if I use this link to log into my PayPal account right now, I can still stop the payment! If the e-mail wasn't forged, one might think it was pure luck.

The consumer protection portal "Watchlist Internet" warns anyone who is currently receiving one or similar e-mails not to believe the message and to never click on any links in it.  Criminals were behind the message, attempting to steal users' PayPal account login information as well as credit card information.

To accomplish this, victims are redirected to a spoof Paypal page, which is reasonably convincing but can be identified by a strange web address if you pay attention.

If you have any doubts about messages that suggest account blocking or suspicious transactions, simply log into the account in question as usual and investigate. This allows it to be quickly established that the claims made in the e-mails are false.

Anyone who has been duped by scammers and has given their personal information to phishing sites should immediately change their PayPal password and notify their bank about their credit card.

If any funds have already been deducted from your account, you should try to get them back from the bank.  If the financial loss is irreversible, the only option is to file a police report.

Nvidia prevails to refresh the lowest segment. It will be GTX or GT 1630

 The GeForce GTX 1650 is currently the most affordable Nvidia graphics card, although as some may recall, only the GTX 1050 Ti and GT 1030 were previously available (GT 730).

It's worth mentioning that the GTX 1650 is now three years old, and the following two are even older, as they were released in 2016 and 2014, respectively. As a result, these systems are nearly obsolete, and it appears that Nvidia will replace them with a Turing-based system.

Unfortunately, the Videocardz portal did not get any precise information on the system's specifications. However, it's safe to assume that the "new designs" will feature a more deeply chopped TU117 core, but keep in mind that the 1650 GTX was also made using TU116 or TU106 cores.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ would have been delayed until 2022's second half.

Everything pointed to Qualcomm announcing its new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ flagship processor in May, but a fresh rumour casts doubt on that prediction, claiming that the company's new chipset will only be available in the second half of the year due to issues with the location where it is made.

The delay, according to leaker Digital Chat Station, is due to the COVID-19 lockdown in Zhengzhou, where Qualcomm's new chip is manufactured at TSMC's plant - and, by the way, where the massive Foxconn factory that makes the majority of the world's iPhones is located.

This situation would have pushed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ release date into the second half of this year, postponing the arrival of the anticipated flagships.

According to the same source, Motorola, who has a solid relationship with Lenovo, might be the first manufacturer to release a smartphone featuring Qualcomm's new technology.

The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra would be the first smartphone to include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor, which is not surprising given that the Edge 30 Pro was the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, which is the current Qualcomm flagship.

India instructs VPN companies to collect and store data for five and hand over to the government.

Everything you need to know about DDR5

 DDR4 memory is found on most personal computers. The next generation memory standard is coming out. Computers users expect increased performance and optimal power consumption  in the new chips. 

If we focus on raw data, the main changes include a reduction in the voltage from 1.2V to 1.1V, and the 8n prefetch buffer will be replaced by 16n prefetch buffers, i.e. 16 bits per hour will migrate from memory cells to the IO buffer, while performance will be scaled from 3.2 Gbps to 6.4 Gbps per I/O connection.

We can expect increased performance as some memory makers  have managed to enhance JEDEC specifications for DDR4. 

The design of the DDR5 memory modules is based on 288 needles. The application of DDR5 will requires a new platform.  The DIMM has been divided into two channels. A memory module offers two 32-bit channels, of which there will be twice 40 bits with ECC.

Between 8 bytes to 16 bytes the minimum stroke length varies. Sense a module uses two channels, it means it can double the data per operations(64x2). However, it must be remembered that these channels are not wide like channels in DDR4. So in DDR5 manufacturers have increased banking groups from four to eight and makes it possible to update the memory bank if others are working. This allows unused banks to be used sooner, maximizing the availability of less wide channels.

This is a helpful change,but not enough to double the performance in comparison to the DDR4.This requires increasing the memory bus clock speed, which DDR5 does when applying DFE, i.e. decision feedback equalization.Virtually this changed the DDR4 memory bus, reducing the amount of interference., which provided an adequate foundation to achieve a higher rate of data transfer with sufficient stability.

In terms of voltage control, JEDEC has also introduced a major innovation.Starting with the DDR5 standard, each memory module has its own voltage check. So this load is removed from the shoulders of the motherboards.

This is of great importance, because when designing motherboards, manufacturers always had to plan for the maximum possible memory configuration, while in many cases the purchased memory package did not even come close to the load for which the system was theoretically prepared, and this made the production of more modern motherboards quite expensive.

Of course, it can be immediately exclaimed that with the new specifications the costs of making memory modules will increase, but it is not negligible that the power supply of the system will become realistically predictable. From now on, it is enough to put on a memory module a regulator with the capability that is just enough to operate in a stable way, so that the fundamentally wasteful overdesign is eliminated. However, useful information may be that from DDR5 onwards, it has become pointless to purchase expensive motherboards designed for memory tuning, since increasing the memory clock speed will depend solely on the capabilities of the module and cpu memory controller. Of course, there will be no need to fear the motherboard manufacturers, this little problem will certainly be bridged with the wonderful power of marketing.

Do you want to delete your data from Google search?

 Google has expanded the scope of data that can be requested to be removed from a search engine to protect your privacy. Until now, it was mainly the removal of public login information for banks or payment card numbers, now the list of options is longer.

Logitech Lift, an ergonomic mouse to no longer have wrist pain

 Logitech is launching a whole new range of accessories called Ergo. The Lift vertical mouse is the first official model in the series designed for your well-being at work and your productivity. And it even exists for left-handers.

At Logitech, specialist in PC accessories for productivity and gaming, the question came naturally to mind. The Swiss firm always pays attention to the quality of its products in terms of materials and design. But this time it wanted to entrust its Ergo Lab with a new mission, centered on people and well-being at work. That means finding tools that respond to the house philosophy of comfort, design and now ergonomics to feel better at work.

Within the laboratory, in collaboration with ergonomists, the products are developed to reduce muscle fatigue and improve posture as well as comfort, explains Lucie Torrigiani, head of the Ergo range at Logitech. First product of a long series to emerge: the vertical mouse Lift.


This is not the first designed by Logitech. The MX Vertical was the pioneer of the brand. The Lift is 22% smaller than its predecessor to satisfy small and medium hand sizes. “  We found that the MX Vertical was not necessarily suitable for smaller hands. So we got our engineers to work on a mouse that has the same characteristics, but is better suited  ,” adds Lucie Torrigiani.

Several prototypes were tested until the right size-design compromise was found, while following ergonomic recommendations, i.e. by studying the contractions of the six most used muscles and the postures of different body segments using sensors. on the neck, arm and hand. Lift is thus a compact, vertical mouse with an angle of 57 degrees at the level of its rubber handle to fit the curve of the fingers and let the thumb rest on a side rest. Logitech wants an ergonomic and comfortable grip to be able to use the mouse for several hours without tiring.

"We wanted to find a natural and intuitive posture for small hands, which relieves the wrist and offers a relaxing grip.

The two buttons (left and right click) fall naturally under the fingers, with the magnetic SmartWheel wheel in the center. This one is particularly silent, and it does not lose its precision and speed for scrolling by line or much more quickly down long documents. But you will no longer find the infinite scrolling function which allows you to scroll endlessly with a stroke of the wheel. The grip at the back prevents the hand from slipping, a smooth coating obliging an unconscious movement of the palm of the hand to better maintain itself. This is one of the good finds of this strange mouse.

It must be recognized that the handling is very intuitive and you get used to it very quickly. Each finger finds its place naturally around the handle thus inclined. The absence of torsion of the wrist is very real and it is appreciable. Two buttons are on the left edge and can be customized via the new Logi Options+ software, also depending on certain compatible software (Office suite, Adobe suite, etc.).

We appreciate the three possibilities of pairing with different devices to use the mouse as well with a PC (Windows, Linux, Chrome OS), a Mac as a smartphone or a tablet (iOS or Android). To do this, you can use the Bluetooth LE connection or use the supplied Log Bolt USB dongle, which cleverly stores alongside the batteries of the mouse.
