Nitrate juice also increased the number of cells helping to regulate the functioning of the coronary arteries.

The researchers said that the results indicate that this juice may be beneficial for millions of people suffering from coronary heart disease.

Experts are now planning a clinical trial on a diet high in nitrates to confirm current findings.
