Samsung launches rugged external SSD

Samsung is launching a new field storage for field workers

The  T7 Shield survives a compact and featherweight free fall of up to 3 meters, and its IP65 rating indicates full dust resistance and resistance to a low-pressure jet of water.

In addition to its above-average protection against physical impact, the external storage also performs well in terms of speed, with Samsung saying that with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) data connection, sequential read and write speeds of up to 1 GB per second can be achieved.

To keep your saved data secure, the gadget supports AES-256 hardware encryption, basically uses a USB-C port for data communication, but also comes with a USB-A cable in addition to USB-C for connectivity to the widest range of computers.

In terms of capacity, the Samsung T7 Shield is available in two variants these days, the recommended consumer price of the 1 TB edition is 170 euros, while the 2 terabytes are 320 euros, about 65 thousand and 121 thousand forints. Samsung did not clarify the maximum amount of data that could be written before the failure, but it sells the product with a 3-year warranty, which means that you are not too worried about its reliability.
