Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan gave important decisions and observations to the Heads of State, Prime Ministers, Ministers and top bureaucrats regarding the valuable gifts received during their trips abroad. He termed the policy of secret auction of treasures regarding government gifts as unconstitutional. The government has been asked to legislate for the auction of Toshakhana's official gifts as all these gifts and items are public property. The state paid only Rs. 1 million and took away gifts worth Rs. 3.5 crore. The Chief Justice rightly said that it is a gift to the state and not to the personalities. They give gifts to the state of Pakistan and if they are not in positions then what gift can they get?

I have been filing news and scandals in the closet for many years. It is a major source of legal corruption. Gifts are given to our rulers, bureaucrats or those who travel with them during their travels around the world. These same rulers have made it a rule that they can go home by paying ten percent of this gift. Meaning if you get a gift of one crore rupees, pay one million rupees and take the remaining nine million home. Pervez Musharraf, Nawaz Sharif, Zardari and Shaukat Aziz benefited the most from this legal looting. Pervez Musharraf had stopped reporting after 2004 what gifts he had received from which country. Shaukat Aziz took more than 1100 gifts worth crores of rupees in boxes with him to London. Mr. Zardari as President of Pakistan received gifts worth more than 140 million rupees. He paid only Rs 21 million and took away three expensive cars he had received as gifts. BMW and Toyota Lexus with a total value of Rs 107.8 million. The former president took both the cars for only Rs 16.1 million. A BMW worth Rs. The car received as a gift from Muammar Gaddafi was taken by the former president for only Rs 41 lakh while 120 gifts received from different countries were taken away for free.

During the rule of Nawaz Sharif from 1997 to 1999, Nawaz Sharif took with him gifts from Tosha Khana worth more than Rs. 67 lakhs for only Rs. 9 lakhs. Nawaz Sharif took these Mercedes worth Rs. 42.5 million for Rs. 636,000. Mercedes was not included in the gift of Rs 67 lakh. In 1997, a carpet was presented to him by a Turkmen delegation. Nawaz Sharif took this carpet as a gift by paying only 50 rupees. In 1997, he received a briefcase as a gift from the Crown Prince of Qatar. Nawaz Sharif took this briefcase by paying only 875 rupees. The MP rifle worth Rs 150,000 was taken away after paying Rs 14,000, while watches were given to Nawaz Sharif and Kulsoom Nawaz by the ruler of Abu Dhabi. Pervez Musharraf took gifts worth Rs. 4.5 crore for only Rs. 5.5 million. In 2007, Saudi Arabia gave away a jewelery set, necklace and bracelet to Pervez Musharraf's wife Sehba Musharraf. The jewelery was worth Rs 1.52 crore. Pervez Musharraf took the said jewelery by paying only Rs. 22 lakhs. In 2007, Sehba Musharraf was given a gift of jewelery set worth Rs. 37 lakhs by the Saudi government. Pervez Musharraf took this gift by paying only Rs. ۔ The UAE gave a gift of a jewelery set worth Rs. A pocket watch and carpet as a gift from the President of Turkmenistan, a scarf from the Art Museum of Chicago, a leather bag from the President of the United States, a necklace from the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to Begum Sehba Musharraf And the saree was taken away by Pervez Musharraf for free, while the US Secretary of Defense Ramsay Field

Similarly, Shaukat Aziz stole 1100 gifts worth Rs. 250 million from the treasury for only Rs. Shaukat Aziz's residences in London, Dubai and USA are adorned with gifts of Pakistani coffers. Shaukat Aziz did not even leave his vest, socks and underwear. The price of the scarf received from the Governor of Nepal was only 25 rupees for Shaukat Aziz. Shaukat Aziz took the jewelery box received from Prince Charles for only Rs. 2,000. Shaukat Aziz took the handbag from Tony Blair's wife for only 300 rupees. Pandey, who was received by the Chinese Prime Minister, was adopted for only Rs. 1,500. Shaukat Aziz also took a dozen necklaces, gold coins, pearls and crowns from the treasury. Shaukat Aziz also took with him diamonds, Rolex watches, bracelets, carpets and Chinese pandas from the treasury.

In 2017, when Senator Kulsoom Parveen asked the Cabinet Division for details of gifts received during Nawaz Sharif's foreign trips, the bureaucracy refused to provide details. For the first time in history, Principal Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad and the then Cabinet Secretary refused to disclose the details of the gifts to Parliament, saying that it was a national secret. It was not known what Nawaz Sharif, his ministers and those accompanying him were getting and what he was collecting or taking home. The Senate was told that if the details of the gifts received by Nawaz Sharif were shared with the nation, national security would be jeopardized. I don't know how there are horrible national secrets in the treasury which neither Prime Minister Imran Khan nor his cabinet has the courage to reveal or even Imran Khan has been accused by Pervez Musharraf and Shaukat Aziz.
